Hot Chips with Tomato sauce

Hot Potato Chips are a FAMILY FAVOURITE in the Awde home, and mama's homemade ones are a request VERY often. They are a very quick and HEALTHY alternative to the store bought ones. Let me share with you some of the common ingredients found in store bought frozen chips:

• Canola & Cottonseed Oil
• Salt
• Annatto & Caramel (Color)
• Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (Maintains Natural Color)
• Flavour
• Milk powder, etc...

Why would you want to have all those ingredients in a batch of fries? Firstly, they are not health promoting and secondly, they don't taste as nice as homemade ones. Here is the ultra easy recipe:

10 medium potatoes, washed and peeled (peeling is optional)

2 Tbs olive oil

2 Tbs Celtic Salt

• Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius
• Line 2 trays with baking paper
• Cut the potatoes into lengths which are 1cm or less in width
• Place the cut potatos in a bowl and toss with the oil and salt and then spread out evenly over 2 trays.
• Bake for 30-40 minutes or until browned and crispy. I have an OLD oven at home, so I place my trays above the element which crisps the bottom of the chips. I then flip them or place under a grill until nicely browned.
• Serves 4-6

Store bought Tomato Sauce most often has as ingredients:

• Vinegar
• Sugar
• Pepper
• Flavourings
• Citric Acid

You wouldn't want to be introducing that into your system. So make Yiannoulla's YUMMY Tomato Sauce instead.

140g punnet of tomato paste

2 Tbs. date butter or 1 1/2 tsp. honey

1/8 tsp garlic

1/4 tsp. onion powder

1/2 tsp salt

2 Tbs. lemon juice or more

 Mix all ingredients together. To alter consistency of sauce add a little water. Keep in the fridge until needed. Quick and easy, very tasty.
